NEWPORT NEWS, VA– UC Santa Cruz never trailed in their victory over Warren Wilson in the Coast-To-Coast (C2C) women's basketball tournament quarterfinal (93-45). The Banana Slugs improved to 10-14 on the season.

UC Santa Cruz went up 9-0 in the first 2:30. The Owls rallied to get within three, but the Banana Slugs regained an eleven-point lead when
Uma Joshi hit a 40-foot shot at the buzzer to make it 22-11 at the end of the first quarter.

UC Santa Cruz continued to add to their lead and finished the half with a 21-point lead (41-20) after
Alyssa Jackson hit a layup with under a second left. The Banana Slugs made five threes in the first 3:40 of the second half, three by
Amanda Inserra, one each from
Alyssa Jackson and
Ariel Anderson. That pushed the lead to 56-27 as the Banana Slugs coasted and got all their players in the game.

Joshi led UCSC with 17 points, while Inserra and Jackson each scored 15.
Talysha Wilkerson scored 13 and
Celine Castaneda had 13. The Banana Slugs had a season-high 14 three-pointers and out-rebounded the Owls 49-41 in the win.
