WHITTIER, CA (3-27)-- Playing their first tennis in three weeks, UC Santa Cruz triumphed 8-1 over Whittier in a hard-fought dual.
UC Santa Cruz improved to 3-6 with the crucial Division III win.

The Banana Slugs started the day with three wins at doubles, the first doubles sweep since February 12 against Menlo. Aziz Albayouk and Praneet Varade then clinched the dual with straight sets wins. However the other four singles all went to tiebreakers or a third set, with the Banana Slugs going 3-1 to finish the well-played match.

UC Santa Cruz continues the roadtrip with a match at Redlands on Tuesday afternoon.
