ABOUT CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT
The Captains from Newport News, Virginia are currently 5-0. They are ranked fourth in the country while outscoring opponents 17-2. Sarah Smith leads CNU with three goals scored. Riley Cook has a pair of goals and is ranked eighth in the nation with 6.2 shots per game. Haley Eiser has four starts in goal this season and has collected 10 saves. Her 0.27 GAA is 26th-best nationally.
This is the first meeting between the Banana Slugs and Captains, who are now in the same conference with both being founding institutions of the Coast-To-Coast Conference.
ABOUT CAL LUTHERAN
No introduction is needed between the Regals and Banana Slugs, with the two institutions having met on the field 34 times prior to this weekend. The last meeting between the two was in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Cal Lutheran enters the weekend 5-2-1 overall on a four-game winning streak. Isabella Veljacic has scored six goals this season. Gabby Flores (12 saves, 0.96 GAA) and Logan Duford (15 saves, 1.33 goals against) have split time in goal this year.
This is the first time in ten years that the rivals will play in Santa Cruz.
Admission is free to spectators. Fans must use the gate specific to spectators and are expected to adhere to all policies posted on the signs.
No fans are allowed in the bench area at any time, including before and after each game.
